really want a 40hp...but would settle for a 30hp...non-tiller.

Tohatsu vs Suzuki vs Yamaha vs Mercury

and why?

Tohatsu makes the Mercury so that depends on price.

Thanks Joe...I reviewed that the other day. Was looking for real world experiences on why someone went with a certain engine vs the other. Any regrets on it? etc.

Suzuki will be cheapest. They are on buying marketshare campaign with low prices.

Just a couple things to consider:

1. Which dealers are closest to you? Convenience for service may be the tie breaker.
2. I recently bought a new Mercury 40 hp instead of the 50 hp I planned on due to there being a big backlog on availability. If you were looking to avoid having to wait several months for your repower, I’d suggest you find out what your local dealers have in stock.

Probably not a bad choice with any of the brands. Good luck!
