I currently have twin 150hp Mercury Optimax two strokes. Time to upgrade to four strokes. Looking at Yamaha F200 4 cylinder) and Mercury 200 V6. Both are within weight limit. Appreciate thoughts on either choice
What is approximate value, if any, of two strokes, salt water engines, but fresh water only, low hours , regular servicing
Thx!
While both are decent motors, the Mercury 200 Fourstroke is a V6. There is a dock adage, "nothin' beats more displacement."
Price shop the prices of engines, remove/install, binnacle, gauges, harnesses, keyswitch and stainless steel 4 bladed props. The price difference could be significant.
Shop dealers hard, like a new car. Get detailed quotes. No quote, walk.
Big price difference so we are going with Yamaha. Will cover several years worth of fuel bills!! Dealers here have service expertise because of the high # of sales. Pleased with trade-in value of Mercs too. Can't wait for Spring! Thanks all!
