I am a Proud owner of a 1977 15 custom that does not have a waterlogged problem. I’ve been reading lots of info of whaler owners with a waterlog problem. It’s making me apprehensive about my boat because I’m afraid it’s going to become “waterlogged”.
If your out there and have an old whaler with no problems please reply to this post that all is good with your boat.

Are there more old whalers with this problem than not?

1979 Boston Whaler Montauk bought new.
I am on the 4th trailer, the 4th motor and the hull is still giving me good service. It all depends how on how good you take care of it.
Wax it, clean it, use sealant on any hole you make and replace the drain tubes before they leak. I used the plastic ones supplied from whaler instead of the brass ones it came with.

Hope you feel better about this.

Got the drain tube figured out. It’s the holes where the plug goes. I watched a you tube on how to do it.
Thanks for the info

Yes where the plugs go.

When I got them, these were the part numbers for the plastic ones. They could have changed numbers since then.

This is for the stern tube that drains the bilge well.
Boston Whaler Part Stern Tube 1073071
Boston Whaler Part Nut 1042084 1042068

I've got a 1981 15' Sport and I pulled the three drain tubes. The well ones were rotted but the transom is still solid but wet. I'm blowing warm air thru the holes to dry the wood out before putting new tubes in. The long drain tube came out in pieces. The wood transom seemed OK but wet. There is a cavity in the foam in front of the transom. I tried to fill with rice to absorb water and then vacuuming out and am blowing fresh air thru the hole for several days. Expect to put new tubes in before I get the new motor. I'm going with the brass tubes. I didn't realize they sold PVC tubes that fit.
