My first boat. French Beginner

Member Posts: 6 Comments: 0 Joined: 07/01/15	Hi classic whalers owners! Sorry for my English, I'm French and I just get my first boat, an Outrage 21 from 1972 (maybe 1971?). It's an inheritance from my grandfather who passed away 3 month ago. I got so many childhood souvenirs with this boat so I decided to not let it rot. It has been stored for 6 years, and I'm gonna refit this wonderfull boat (the hull is Ok but I got to change gasoline jauges, some electric parts and restore the woods). I can't wait to post pics after the refit. Sorry for my English but I'm happy to became a classic whaler owner in memory of my beloved Grandfather. Best regards from France. If the boat were mine I would try not to replace any parts that could be saved thus maintaining the original quality of the boat as intact as possible. A bit of hard work with some polish will probably restore the gel coat to perfection. Such an approach would, I believe, enhance the value of the boat for the day when you may consider a sale. Meanwhile you will have an almost perfect example of a classic Boston Whaler boat to enjoy on the water. Butch

My condolences on your Grandfather's passing, but good for you to keep the "childhood souvenirs" alive. Feelings of nostalgia are the reason I can't bring myself to own a modern Whaler, and stick with the classics.
