I'm looking for a prop for my 1977 21 outrage with a Honda 150. Any suggestions on where to start? Thanks.

Thanks for the link.
The 70s era Outrage has a much different hull design from an 80s Outrage. Also one thing I forgot to mention is the motor is on a Bobs 8'' setback hydraulic jack plate.
Not sure if these differences would effect prop selection.

Not necessarily but it could.
It would affect the appropriate mounting position of the engine.
Mounting the engine at the appropriate height and the appropriate size and type of prop are key to optimal performance and engine operation.

I hope that this topic stays active/gets answered. I also have Bob's Hydraulic jack plate (12"). It is on a 1979 22' Revenge. I am not going to be a position to mount my motor in the near future. I would love to know the layout and positioning of the outboard's anti ventilation plate in relationship to the "throw" of the jack plate. I measured the hydraulic hose fittings and it appears that I will have about 7" of movement with the hydraulic cylinder. My guess would be having the hydraulic cylinder in the down position and the anti ventilation plate level (maybe 1" below) the bottom of the transom/keel. This is just a guess but would love to hear/read input with this topic.

FWIW, I have a 1977 21 Outrage (banana boat) with a Suzuki DF175 and I run a 3 blade, 16 in., 20 pitch prop. Suzukis are geared differently than Hondas so it may not be comparable.

You want the anti-cav plate 1- 1 1/2" above the keel when on the transom.
With a jack plate, the suggestion is adding 1" of rise for every 12" of setback.
This would mean your anti-cavitation plate would be 2 - 2 1/2" above the keel line.
You will need to water test this and adjust the settings (documenting as you go) to ascertain what is the most optimum.
NOTE: It has been stated that adding setback to an outboard on a Boston Whaler increases the hull's tendency to porpoise.

Forgot to mention that my boat has a 6" Bob's jackplate.

Thanks for the starting dimensions. So with a 7" "throw" for height, a safe starting point for adjustments (the hydraulic feature gives me flexibility) could be at 1 1/2" above the keel. This would allow me to raise it 8 1/2" above the keel in the topmost position. Not particularly a height I would be running a 200hp HO E-tec wide open.
I have the propeller that Tom Clark advised for my boat is "Mercury Marine Mirage Plus 48-90159 17p x 15 1/2". I have yet to try it and have no idea what the numbers mean.

When measuring the keel line, do you take a straight edge off the bottom of the boat or put a level on the keel?
