Bottom motor mounting holes ( below motor well drains) seem to be blind holes, therefore had lag screws in them. They are stripped out. Can I repair as stated in other threads and just put new lag bolts in to hold bottom of motor? Considering removing motor and oversizing the holes, then using epoxy to set marine plywood plugs. After this is cured reglassing and gel coating the transom. I don't have any other holes in the transom and it seems to be solid. Will this method hold the motor? Other Whalers I have looked at have the motor mounting holes go through above the bottom of the motor well. This is the only one I have seen with the going in below.
I value your opinion, so what is the proper motor height? I always thought the cavitation plate should be even with or just below the keel. Has that changed or was I just plain wrong?
