I need to replace the original seat cushion on my 1983 17" Montauk. The back of the seat is reversible. I am looking for a reputable supplier or cushion manufacturer. Recommendations are much appreciated. Thanks!!

You want to use Andersons, in Mimm's, FL. I believe they are the only supplier that has the original Whaler Tan Pleat fabric needed for an original replacement. Expect to pay about $250-$300.

Finnegan,
I don't think so.
Have you looked at Specialty Marine cushions?

Joe - I hadn't. but is that the same tan pleat with the leather grain texture? It looks like it's a smooth surface.

I bought the seat cushion from Speciality Marine, dead on replica. Excellect padding. I had a 1980 Montauk and now have a 1984 Outrage and they use the same seat. I got the seat for the Outrage but as I said they are the same seat.

The fabric that Specialty Marine uses is a good imitation, but it is NOT the same. It is much softer and more pliable and VERY easily damaged.
Last summer I ordered an RPS cushion from Specialty Marine and when it arrived I was very disappointed. There were blemishes from where the seaming machine for the fabric appears to have funky rollers that left marks
The cooler cushion I ordered had tears in it within a week of being installed because the fabric was so soft.
But the most outrageous fault with the Specialty Marine RPS cushion is that they do not install the Tee nuts in the seat bottom so the only way to attach it to the Z-legs is to use sheet metal screws drilled and driven into the plywood base, and in the long run, they will tear out.

Finnegan & Tom are correct - Anderson's (used to be Dave's upholstery) have the CORRECT and QUALITY material. Proper grain texture and piping that matches all OEM cushions.
I ordered the pilot seat, cooler cushion & console / rod holder cushions (still have the originals) 5yrs. ago and they are still in perfect condition.
I dealt w/ Tena - (321) 267 - 7028
A friend ordered the "other ones" and was disappointed when he compared them to mine... not even close.

I had the same experience as Tom with specialty marines cushions. I returned them and purchaced a set from Anderson's. They are perfect and made to order which allows them to acomodate special requests such as leaving out the snaps on the rod holder and cooler cushions. This allowed me to match the location of the exsisting snaps on the boat.
