I see too many people abbreviating the year of their Whalers or motors, etc...

Please, when people search for certain year items, abbreviated years do not work well.
Our Search Engine requires a minimum of 3 characters to be able to search. Therefore, trying to do a search for a certain year does not work with just 2 characters. Use the full 4 digit year.

'86 is 3 key strokes... 1986 is four keystrokes....

There is no such thing as 86' year as that would be 86 feet.....

Thank you for your co-operation......

All years that are abbreviated will be changed which makes the admins work more than then should have to.

Thanks Joe, that is something I would never have thought of.
It has most likely caused problems in other searches.

Joe, hope you didn't mind my tongue-in-cheek comment in the other thread (I didn't want to hijack that thread either). Thank you for all of your hard work with this site, it is truly one of the most helpful sites out there! I can see how the full year would help in searches.

Thanks again,

Matt

Twelve feet seems awfully short for a truck...

We have a WINNER........

That was a trick question and wanted to find out who was on the ball.......

Obviously you cannot determine the year of the Ford truck as it is a very short 12 foot truck.......

I'm glad someone is paying attention cwk6...........

No need for apologies folks....

I also am not here to give anyone English lessons on how to use proper punctuation marks...

However, it is much easier for everyone reading your post to read the full year rather then try and figure out if it is 88' (88 feet) or 88" (88 inches) or 88 (88 HP)...... 1988 should be used.
This also helps out when people do a search for the correct year item they may be looking for...

So, I am asking everyone to please use the full 4 digit year....

Thanks for all your co-operation........

We still see far too many people abbreviating the year, so please, use the full 4 digit year.
