Hey Joe

I had running lights last night for five minutes ... blew a fuse and i don't think i had the correct one in there ... from what i could make out i think it was a 3amp 250 ???

I can't make out what it says on the panel beneath the fuse holder ... i think it says 5 amp.

From left to right i think it is 10amp 5 amp 5amp ?

What is the correct fuse (or fuses)

Thanks

86' 18 Outrage

jvz,

Take a look at this original switch panel in the OEM Parts Photo section....

http://www.whalercentral.com/photogal...hoto_id=85 Cool

You still shouldn't blow a fuse unless there is a short somewhere....
If you blow a 5 amp fuse, then you probably have a short......

I am still blowing fuses on my nav. lights ... i have cleaned all contacts on the panel's . i went through it again today and everything was fine, then i fired up the motor to flush and turned on the Nav. lights and blew a 5 amp again .... does anyone have an authentic wiring diagram for a 1986 19' Outrage

Has anyone run into this scenario ?

Thanks

Yep, been there, done that, got the t-shirt ! when I bought my used 15' sport I had the same exact problem. I traced the wires, all good, except where the rub rail was, I removed the rub rail, and had found that the previous owner had replaced the wires with "Lamp Cord" wire, he then shot 5 screws into the rub rail when putting it back hoping not to hit the wire, this guy banged 5 perfect shots with the screws right through the middle of the lamp cord making 5 perfect shorts in the wire. NICE JOB ! Thanks for the extra work, I re-wired with the correct wire, and protected the circuit. I spent an hour hammering the rub rail back into the channel with a rubber mallet, and a piece of 2x4. When I got to the last piece of rub rail to hammer in, it was too short (what the ^%$#), I pulled it slightly to make it reach and all of the rub rail I had just spent hammering in fell out all the way up to the bow, GREAT ! Then, all of a sudden, I grabbed a chunk of Brain, I started cracking up, my father was a bit disturbed by this, I said "Dad, THATS how they put it in, they stretch it", he looked at me, I pulled the rub rail tight, and he walked it into the channel, I released the rubber rub rail, and she sat perfectly in the channel, still no problems with the wiring (yet), hope this helps.
