I have completed all of the glass/sand/fair/painting of the hull. I rolled on two coats of Ultratuff rubberized nonskid this weekend in sand. I am very happy with the look and feel of it. Pictures are in my personal website to the left

Nice job. Looks like you had a heck of a repair to make at the bow! How did you run those wires?

Isn't the boat supposed to ride on the trailer rather than the trailer riding in the boat?

Or is that how they do it in Florida? Smile

Hull was given to me and the trailer I paid $50 for. It was not in any kind of shape to use so I borrowed another trailer, put the hull on that and threw the old trailer in the hull. Not pretty but effective. Total investment is around $2000 so far, not counting labor. If I paid myself minimum wage, I figure I've got about 25k into it Smile

Hey dpdash,
your personal website doesn't seem to be working. I was thinking of using the ultra tough on my 17 restoration and would love to see photos. Am I doing something wrong or is the site down?

PhotoBucket seems to be down for maintenance.

This has nothing to do with WhalerCentral as we have no control over outside sources.

Wow. I seem to recall a few members telling you not to bother; to start with a better hull. You had a challenge and you did a great job!

dpdash,
At the start of your project you had a boat that looked as if it fell off the back of a truck as it was being hauled to the dump. Now you have a beautiful Whaler. You're to be commended for your ingenuity, perserverance and foresight. Way to go.

Wow!

I thought I had a rough hull to work with. I'll never complain again.

Beautiful job you did.

I've been asking people like yourself, how much paint did you use? What products and methods(roll&tip)?

I came up with about 200sq foot for the entire surface area of the 13 foot hull. Did you calculate sq footage?

Check out my work in progress:

Thanks,

thanks for the nice comments, I knew it would be a ton of work but I really wanted to try it and use it as a learning experience, which it has been.

I posted the amount of paint/primer I used on one of your threads, can't remember which one. Will update with new pics as work progresses, next up is the mahogany
