I unfortunately used an aluminum stern light mounted on the original stainless mount and yes, as expected it has corroded and pretty much welded itself into the the mount. I don't need anyone to tell me that I never should have used the aluminum in the stainless, as that is obvious, I need some recomendations as to how I can get the remaining pieces on the light out of the mounting slot.

If I remember correctly;

-Remove from boat.
-insert into a vice
-cut the pole leaving 1-2 inch past the brackets
-cut the pipe vertically 2 x to make an X down to the bracket.
-remove hacksaw blade and thread though the pipe and reconnect the handle.
-cut the pipe as much as possible without cutting into the bracket.
-use a flat head screw driver and hammer it between the pole and the bracket on each side of the x.
-spray Kroil or PBBlaster frequently.
-if you get desperate use moderate heat and force.

I may be wrong but don't they use SS in aluminum all the time? ie: out board engines.

You might consider soaking it in "LimeAway" or CLR. If none of the soaking works, what about drilling it out with a 3/4" drill, since the tube O.D. is 3/4"?

Just coincidentally, and if you are interested, I was about to list for sale an all original Boston Whaler/Perko SS stern light, without mounting brackets. The overall length from bottom tip of pole to top of light lense is 30-1/2". It would be fine for a 13 or 15' Whaler. It is like new, shiny, no corrosion, and works perfectly. A bargain at $60 to your door.

The sad thing is that I have an Original OEM light that I got 2 years ago and just never took the time to put it on. Thanks for the offer and advice though.
