What resale risk do I face If I remove the cuddy from a 25'
to make an open Outrage...
Also is there a site that clearly shows all the letter and number codes for (BWC) So I know what year it was laid up
and if it is an original out rage or cuddy
Thankyou
Russell Burbridge

Removing the cuddy from an Outrage's forward deck is somewhat common and has a small effect on the value for resale. That is so long as you are able to convert the forward area to OEM with a set of hatches. They are impossible to find by themselves but some people trade the cuddy cap and wood cuddy hatches for someone else's OEM hatches who want to convert from and Outrage to an Outrage Cuddy. Also, proper patching of the holes in the bow area where the cap attaches is a necessary endeavor.

Thanks Joe
Thanks Jeff
I'm still looking for a 25' outrage now I will look closer at the cuddy's aswell....
Do you know what moisture level would still be considered a good boat....I've be told that pre 85 had foam problems...
and they had a tendendency to hold more moisture..
True or false...Thanks again Russell

If you look in the buck book under 16' whalers you will see a huge difference between pre 1968 and 1968 and newer hulls. I believe the early gelcoat was somehow flawed or too thick which can result in severe gelcoat cracking. I have looked at two different pre 68 hulls that the gelcoat was cracked so bad it looked like a mosaic, not spider cracks. And the 1967 hull I just bought was regelcoated but I could see a spot where it had the same thing even though none of those three hulls were waterlogged. The buck books don't list the 13' hulls but if you check the 16' values they are pretty steady through the years until 1968 then they jump up a lot then remain steady after that. Does anyone out there have a explanation ?

Hi Burdy, to get back on track here, If you do find a cudy that will suit your needs and want to remove the cudy, to make a "one off" stand out, you can use teak strips to cover the holes left by the cudy and not have to try to fill and match the holes, and make a spacer for the deck area and have the hatches made out of fiberglass. Less time and money to get out and be fishing. It will also keep the resale value and appeal for a future buyer. Post pics of your choice and any mods. Good luck and tight lines!
