I just saw some youtube videos on it and was wondering the same thing. In the videos it said you had to apply it 2-3 times per year, which would seem like a lot if it does what they claimed.

Its supposed to be like a polish, to take away the chalky color of the gelcoat.

I have used this product and I can say it works very well. If you have heavy oxidation I would say you might be better off with heavy compound first and then follow with Buff magic, then wax. The product is a bit weird, it starts off a bit abrasive and then works down to a polish. Well worth the price. If you order from the manufacturer you may also get some free gifts. I also use the pro polish and serious shine on my Sea Ray.

It claims to bond with the gel coat, unlike wax.

It fills the pours of the gelcoat for a period of time. Like wax it needs to be done every few months.

I would not bother with stuff like that. Stay with the big names like 3M or Meguiars.

For removing oxidation and making a Whaler shine like new, I would use 3M's "Imperial Compound and Finishing Material" (yes, that's it real name) in the black and purple qt bottle, about $40-$45. The stuff is amazing, although it requires power application with a wool pad.

Finish up with 3M's Finesse-it II or KIT "Scratch Out", which works as a glazing compound, then pure wax.

If you are working over wet sanded gelcoat, end up with #2000 before you start the compound work.

You won't believe the gloss if you know what you are doing and follow directions.

Buff Magic works great, if you do a search you will see photo's of my 13 where i tested the product. If you use the product correctly it does not "fill the pours of the gelcoat" but acts like a supper rubbing compound. The only difference i could see between wet sanding and Buff Magic was Wet sanding removed the carpet glue from the gelcoat, and Buff Magic did not. I didn't expect that it would take off carpet glue.

saved you the search

If you wet sand all the way to 2000 grit, you don't need the imperial, you can just go straight to the finesse II.
