Looking over the posts there is lots of info on the older Whalers but I cannot seem to find much on the 1990's 13' GLS. I have seen dry weight listings that vary from 360-550 lbs. for a 1997. I'd like to hear from some who own theses boats and their opinions on the ride (medium size lake with occassional swells), number of people that can be comfortable for a 2-3 hr. trip and prefered engine sizes. No tubing or skiing is planned. If you have bought one recently would also appreciate fair pricing for one. Thanks in advance.

Really?

You must not have looked in our "Whaler Models and Info" link on the left sidebar.
We even have a photo along with the info you are looking for right there.

I certainly have no idea where you got such a varying weight from 360-550 lbs...
Certainly not from this site or the Whaler catalogs....

I also suggest you look through the members "Personal Pages' on the left sidebar and see if any other members show their 13' GLS....

I have looked over the sites. There is one picture. In two different areas I see weights of 410? and 365lb. I would really like to hear from those who own one. I have in addition looked over owners own sites and find very little. Believe me I would not bother to put up this post if I hadn't spent hours mulling over all the areas. I thought perhaps someone could be helpful! Sorry if I appear ignorant sir.

A 1997 13' GSL has a specified weight of 360 pounds.

I have no idea where you could get a figure of 550 pounds for this boat.

Losthat,

I owned a 1994 13 GLS for a couple of years. It was a great boat and the all fiberglass aspect made for easy upkeep and maintenance.

We are a family of 5, but my kids were younger at the time (between 6 and 9). The boat offered good seating for us.

We had a 1994 40 HP Johnson on the back and the boat would go as fast as you could possible want or take. We pulled the kids on the tube without any problem.

It is a perfect lake boat, and great for cruising. We would stay out all day.

I don't think we would have been as comfortable with 5 adults. When I would fish with friends, 3 was the magic number.

As for the ride, the kids loved it! In chop, it is rough, but you never felt unsafe. We moved up to a 17 Montauk for more room and to expand our boating range and capabilities. I now have a 22 Outrage Cuddy.

I do not recall the weight, but you can tow it with anything. I could move the boat and trailer by hand on my driveway.

I think it is a great boat, and we chose it because we felt it was a safe boat, and an easy boat to maintain when I was looking into getting my family into boating.

Losthat,,

All the info in our Whaler Model and Info section comes directly from the Boston Whaler catalogs. As Tom and the catalogs mentions, the boat weighs 360 pounds. We can't argue with that except for hulls do vary slightly.

I have no idea where you got the other weights on this site.
Please let us know if it is something we have listed incorrectly (or a typo) and we will change it. However, we have no idea where that might be unless you tell us.

Thanks for the replys. Yes it is listed here at 360 and on another well known site as 410. I saw one lilsted with a weight of 550 in a classifed ad and thought that sounded way too much unless there is alot of water somewhere inside.
Thanks again my decision is getting easier.

410 pounds is the weight of the 13' Super Sport Limited, not the GLS.
