As I posted earlier, I blew up my outboard this weekend. Does anyone happen to know of anyone good to rebuild it? I am not looking to spend 7-8k on the boat right now for a repower. I read about nwflorida outboard repair. They want around 2500 to do a complete rebuild. Any knowledge of them or other recommendations?

BMW...there's a guy just south of Tallahassee (which may be further than you'd like) on the road to St. Mark's lighthouse and wildlife/launch area that I would swear by for competence and fair pricing...I used him several times and he's head and shoulders above the rest. He's around 70 and has a couple of acres of parts boats and outboards datingback to creation...you can't go wrong with him. Even living in Atlanta, I would not hesitate towing my rig to his place. Now you're gonna be upset...I haven't used him in five years and can't remember the name of the place...the man has a real different type name, but I'd bet if you call the St. Marks BBB or C of C they could hook you up...good luck.

Raplh, if you have used him sevaral times, are you doing something wrong or is he? I have been boating my whole life and with the exception of one alcohol induced romp with no oil in the gas I've never blown a motor.
I'm afriad you are having more fun than me, cause according to my wife I spend too much having fun!!

LMAOROTF!
I have gone through a few nice props, a skeg or two and one lower unit but never have completely blown one up from the inside. That Ethanol stuff is bad for motors weather it be in the tanks or behind the controls!
I would go with the 70 year old guy in a NY minute as long as you don't need it now and want the job done right! He is probably a wealth of information and will be happy just making some side cash and doing it right for you.
