I am considering purchasing an 18' Dauntless, from 2001 to 2004. The boat is to be used for inshore / bay fishing, and water sports on the lake. I am curious re the stern seating. I know that there are back rests that can be placed in the rod holders. But do the older models also have the flip-up stern bench seat? If not, when was that change made? Many thanks!
P.S. I will be moving up from a 1976 15' Sport, with a 2005 40hp Yamaha. I'll list it on the board when I am prepared to part with it. Thanks again.
I think the change was 2003.. prior to that was a removable box with cushion on top and seat backs in rod holders. the newer seat is casting deck when closed and seat when open.
I think the change over year was 2002 and not 2003. None the less I was just out again today with a friend who has a 2003 18 Dauntless. Every time I see that boat I marvel at how nice that back seat is. Well I honestly have to say I always marvel at how great of an all around boat it is. He has it up for sale and I would love to have it over my classic 17 but, I need a cabin for the next Whaler.
I say look for one with the flip up seat.
