Mine weighs in a 58 pounds.... http://www.whalercentral.com/articles...icle_id=48 I have had this same Evinrude 8hp kicker on several different boats now. 1997 Outrage 17' II 1978 Montauk 1985 Outrage 18' The lighter the weight the better but I don't think I would want anything less than 6hp.... 8hp being my first choice, and then a 9.9hp if it was light enough. I works even in light wind, bit I used in inland waters not tidal. Jon in NJ Many other boats and outboards in my boating history The Whaler is the one I like the best!!!
