Anyone installed the low-profile Moeller 12 gallon tank under the front seat on a 13' Whaler? Pictures? Curious about how you've secured it, how you access the fill cap, installed a fuel gauge sender, etc.

1 was thinking of doing that myself, 12 or 18 low profile under my front seat...on a 15ss. Right now I have a 12 gal tank in back. The weight up front may make it run better too. Only thing i don't like is that it must stick out under the front or rear of the seat for the fuel fill, unless you cut a hole through the seat for access.

I'm trying to find a shop that stocks these locally so I can get full height measurements including the filler cap - the tank will easily fit under my front seat, but I'm not sure about the cap. If it fits completely under, then I can just slide my front seat out when I need to fill, leaving the tank strapped down.

I'd also consider putting a hole in the seat with a flap cover if I had to... I need to move the weight forward, and could use the extra capacity.

I had a similar question about exact dimensions. I called Eastern Marine and the salesman went into the warehouse and measured the tank for me. It was a different tank but he found the info I needed.

You can mount those under seat tanks with an adjustable snap strap (like is on the life jacket straps) set-up that makes it easy to slide in an out for refueling. If you're considering the tank I'm thinking you are, I'd say three, maybe four straps will do it.

Eastern Marine reports it's exactly 7.5" with the cap screwed on tight, so it should fit nicely... I'm considering replacing the front seat with a wider plank to fully cover the tank, and actually pull the seat plank forward when I need to fill, rather than move the tank around, assuming the 9" or so of forward space I can slide the seat will clear the fuel cap.

I hold my 18 gal tank with 4 straps and it is very easy to slide out and add gas. The straps hold the tank in place extremely well - see pic 3 on my personal page
