The loadrite trailer I bought with my boat is a rusted mess and I think I may just buy a new trailer instead of welding/repairing the old one and replacing the springs and bearings.

From searches here, it appears that a bunk trailer with keel rollers are desirable. The local dealer is suggsting a Loadrite "5-starr" welded trailer model 5S-17220090V Welded which is $1399.

Are there any others I should look at? Is a 2200 pound trailer the right size for a 16' custom? I am thinking 850 lbs for the hull 300 lbs for the motor plus 500 for misc other stuff.

That would depend on your money/time balance.
My pockets are not so fat, so I went the other way.
I picked up a trailer on CL for $200.
It needed bunks, carpet, paint, lights, and rollers.
After about $150 it need rollers and marker lights.

It would be nice if it was galvanized!
But for $400 I can compromise.

Then again I went the fat wallet way. Pacific I-beam welded galvanized trailer. Bunks with keel rollers with all stainless hardware, oil bath hubs, spare tire carrier, spare tire, side bunks, led lights, torsion suspension and 14" galvanized wheels. GVWR of 2500 lbs, $2400.00 I hate dealing with trailer problems and this trailer is no problem.

That seems to be on the high-side but worth considering. Does anyone have the 5-starr trailer?

I like the sound/weight of the Tidewater, but it seems to be an unknown brand unlike shoreland'r, ez loader, cox, load rite
