I generally end up pulling both drain plugs on my 13-footer whenever I go away for a few days. Would be much more convenient to have it up or out of the water. Any ideas regarding a ramp or lift? What are some pro's and cons to either? Suggested manufacturer or where to find used?

I don't know of any cons for keeping the boat on a lift. They are expensive though.

Wondering if a shore ramp might be better.

A 13 can be hung from a davit. They"re cheaper than a lift and will keep it out of the water.

The davit approach is the one that I would use , except that the hull would not support being hung all the time. I would have some sort of a cradle/chock to support the hull, sort of like being on a bigger boat.

I use a "Swinger" single piling lift for my 1982 11' Sport. I have had it for about 7 years and it works great. They "swing" through 180 degrees so you can set the entire cradle and boat right down on the dock. I tried the single davit method with a lifting harness first but this is a much better solution.

The "Swinger" is made by Tide Tamer and is simple to install. If you have a solid piling, all you will need is a hearty drill.

This is a great suggestion (the "Swinger"Wink. Thanks. I'm gonna research this for my 13-footer.

I bought a cantilever lift for my 150 sport this year and love it. My boat is in the adirondacks and the water is like tea. Keeping it out of the water keeps it so clean and I never have to worry about storms battering it against the dock while I'm away from the cabin during the week. litlle expensive, but in my opinion well worth the price.
