I have a 1987 Classic 17' Montauk. This winter, I added a Mills suntop and love it. I'm now thinking of adding a Mills forward shelter. Question is - how much spray protection does it provide for those sitting on the RPS?
After spending aweek on Penobscot Bay, my wife is looking for a way to stay out of the salt spray. I know a bigger boat is an option - like a 22' Outrage Cuddy/Revenge I've been thinking about - but not in the cards for this fall. Advice on the pros/cons of the forward shelter would be appreciated.
As you probably already know, the Sun Top will not work with the Forward Shelter.
You would need the Flying Top and Windshield along with the Forward Shelter to give you more complete protection. Also known as the Flying Top Set I believe.
The Flying Top Set still doesn't give much room to get in and out easily unless you are younger and on the smaller side.
There are several members that show the complete setup in their personal page. Look through the Montauk pages.
Here is one an older Nauset which is the same thing except for the tan color. http://www.whalercentral.com/infusion...r_id=16878
That should give you an idea of the size.
