Fish Box Flooding

Member Posts: 8 Comments: 0 Joined: 08/14/10	Hi, Could anyone point me in the right direction to related threads concerning port and starboard fish boxes flooding? They do not have pump outs and the boat is on a pontoon therefore no self draining facility exists as it is not on a trailer. The water gets in via the scuppers when being washed down or through general water splashes and rain. Can I fit a drain into the bilge that could be bunged or is there another option open to me at all? Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated Andy

Every new conquest I've seen from 2004 and up has had them installed from the factory. Otherwise there's no way to drain them when the boat's in the water. You should have a main plug drain at the bottom and a screened fishbox drain at the aft corner which then runs through a macerator pump then overboard. I thought this configuration was standard. Member Personal Page Posts: 1533 Comments: 3 Joined: 10/28/06	If your fishbox has a circulating pump then there is more than likely a gate valve in the circulating line that will allow it to dump. Look on the outside of the boat and see if you see any sort of thru-hull fitting. If you do, then try and trace a hose from it back to the pump Tom 1979 Sport 15'

The owner’s manual http://media.channelblade.com/boat_graphics/electronic_brochure/Company94/_55_51201075027PM.pdf (although it does not go into detail about the macerator pump), indicates that the fish boxes have drain plugs (which must be in) and there are switches on the console to operate each pumps. This is the same design and layout that I have seen on all late model Conquests and Outrages with fish boxes.

I do have the 2 switches at the helm for each box, but nothing happens when they are switched? It seems that the pump out is/was an optional extra when the 2008 models were offered to the Uk market? Andy

Andy Check your fuse, it's possible that you have a pump and it won't come on because fuse is blown Tom 1979 Sport 15'

The 2010 235 and 255 also have that as an option???? Regardless, I would still be concerned as to why/how water is gaining access to the fish boxes. The deck scuppers appear to be a pretty far distance to/from the fish boxes. Is it a fair amount of water? You seem to indicate that it is happening to both boxes – are you sure the plugs are properly sealed/seated. You may also want to check on the lid seals. My buddy uses the following to drain his fish box (no pump out or drains at all) - http://www.cabelas.com/p-0043023018933a.shtml - makes very quick work of it and baterry operated.
