Old 16 (Katama) with NEW rub rail - bow light (with chocks) install ?

I guess I got 2 choices. Unfortunately for me I don't like either. 1) carve up rub rail or 2) make a platform out of Starboard for my bow light and trim the Starboard to the contours of the new rub rail. I don't like this because it raises the center of gravity if I am using it to anchor up. Any good photos of either setups especially trimming of rub rail so I can make my mind up.
