The boat has had two coats of paint over the stencil number. I sanded it off when I purchased it to see what it was. Only Boston Whaler has the records for the Stencil Numbers on the 15's because all the 15's came with HIN plates. The Stencil Number doesn't tell us what year it is, that's why I wondered how you knew the year. From what you are saying, you don't really know the year for a fact. Only from the paperwork as the stencil number doesn't tell you or us the year. Interesting to see what Boston Whaler says the year is.

Member Posts: 1607 Comments: 9 Joined: 05/09/07	Similar thing happened to us when we purchased the 22. Out of state title said the HIN was unknown and had assigned a number to it. Chuck was kind enough to send a letter stating that although he couldn't issue a duplicate MSO, their records indicated the original number, and my state was OK with that and assigned it to the hull when it was registered here. PO also said it was an '85 but it turned out to be an '83. Not a big deal either way, but for some reason it felt really good to have the BW issued HIN back on the hull. Dave - 1983 Outrage 22

According to Whaler's records, serial number 5A3479 was assigned a 12 digit Hull Identification Number of BWC1408BM79B. This boat was built in our old Rockland, MA factory as a 15' Sport model and was originally shipped out to a Carbia's Marine in Stuart, FL on 9/14/78 (as a 1979 model). Now you can have a new HIN tag made with the correct HIN number. 1979 it is.... Always nice to have the exact record information....
