If I remember correctly, mine had Oar Lock Sockets and I had a 1971 model... I am no longer positive however.

We have had lots of people wanting to know more about the 13' models so we are investigating a little further.

So, If you have Oar Lock Sockets, what year do you have?

My '76 had oar locks, but I removed them as they were pretty funky and I didn't see the hassle of replacing them as worth it - cleaned out the cavity, put blocks of wood encased with fiber/resign in there and sealed it all up.

I'm assuming the oar locks were original, but I can't be positive. I know the previous owner (since 1985 or so) said they were in the boat when he bought it.

According to the Boston Whaler Price Lists, here is a little more info.

Starting in 1972, the "Oar Lock Sockets" were an extra cost of $25 and they were *Special Order*....

A little more digging in the price lists and catalogs confirm that the "Oar Lock Sockets" were standard in 1971 and earlier models.

So, there you have it.

1971 was the last year of standard Oar Lock Sockets. After that they were special order.

Are the oar locks for a generic, standard size oar, or were the oars sold through Boston Whaler as well? I have the oar locks on my '71 but have never see the factory oar set (if there was one)

I have oar locks in my 1964 13 footer and it came with the original Oar lock horns. I use a spare pair as not to lose the originals when playingSmile) AT least twice they saved me when a motor acted up...
Nice way to get back Smile)
