If this year/model is teak, then I take it from other threads that it is best to sand and finish with teak oil - anything else, varnish?

It should be teak. Just sand and apply teak oil and your set to go! Good Luck!

I've had great luck with the multi-step teak treatment approach. The deep clean, brightening and then oiling seem to bring the wood to almost original condition. My teak is in very rough condition... never have tried the sand and oil approach.

I agree with JPB but it is all a matter of personal preference and the look you like Vs the time you are willing to spend maintaining what you use.
You can give it a drink of oil pretty quickly a couple times per season or you might get a few years from a good quality varnish and have to do it again.
Oil works for me but I also like the looks of a well done varnish but would reserve that finish for Mahogany.

There is really no substitute for sanding.
I've tried chemicals and all it seemed to do is raise the grain so it wasn't as smooth.
See this article.

Thanks for the input - now I just need to get started. Hopefully I will have pics (before & after) to share a bit later!

The only things that are most likely Mahogany are some optional equipment a boat might have.
1. Mahogany Cooler Cleats
2. Mahogany Ply Rod Boxes
Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.
You might also look at the Project Albums which there are many.
Here is one on the Teak RPS Seat Back.

Joe - In the 1978-1982 Mpntauks, the console mounting cleats are varnished mahogany, and so are the mounting blocks for the Mills Forward Shelter and FLying Top pivot hinges.

My console cleats were teak on my 1978 Montauk...
Yes, I also had the Forward Shelter and Flying Top cleats on my 1978 and they were Mahogany.. I forgot about those options and that's why I said I couldn't think of anymore at that time.
Thanks for adding that.
