i am in the middle of gelcoat repair in this empty hull - have several questions and would like anyone interested to point me toward their page so i can see what they are talking about. i am not worried about it being classic - it ain;t leaving my possession so i want to make it for what i want - a sturdy small fishing boat i can take into bays on a decent day.
1. removed the cable/pulley steering, and really don't want that - will go teleflex. any idea about the weight difference ? any reasons NOT to go teleflex ?
2. i am not a fan of refinishing wood. anyone use starboard for the front hatch ?
3. thinking about putting a decent pedestal seat directly on the floor - anyone do that ? or did you get the wood and put a seat pedestal and seat there. i weigh 230 so ... don;t want to break anything.
4. will have a "removable" bow mounted trolling motor - where did you put the battery for that ?
5. fiberglass console - weighs more or less than the wood ?
6. particular steering wheel ? any ideas about a used wheel ?
7. placement of fuel tank ? under/next to/in front of the console ?
i know - a lot of questions - i figure i will have several weeks of hull sanding/painting/motor selection before i get to most of this - once again, if you have done something like this and have some pics on your personal page - please just tell me and i'll look there ... thanks in advance
Just my advice only but Try looking at the personal page link under Photo Gallery on the left side of this page. Scroll down to the 13 footers and look at all the different setups, there are plenty to copy, adapt or just get ideas from.

the boat weights about 400# or 100# over what it should due to water in the foam. my advice, don't to it. if you want seats, use a thwart seat and screw them into that. There is no wood in the floor for them to hold too and your opening up the foam to water.
i have spent considerable time going through the personal pages - did not see a "classic" 13 with a center console. i think i will go with the seats bolted to the wood. thanks all ...
