Yesterday the lake kicked up and tossed the bow of the boat coming down on a post of the boat lift. I section of the channel that holds the rub rail broke off... about 8 inches long to the right side of the bow light - chock. The rubber strip itslef is fine. Its simply removed the channel that is supposed to hold it.
I've got the pieces. Is this something that can be repaired (epoxy, silicone, etc.?) or does it require replacement of this channel?
Mike - I feel your pain. My rear quarter took a pounding at a float last year. The track broke in several places and there is a chunk missing underneath.
The insert is one long piece so patching is a pain.
I would pull out the insert for a few feet to get access to the damaged track. I would reattach the piece using screws to get you by.
Hope this helps.

Many thanks for the suggestion,,, Yes, I see no reason to take the entire channel off as the repair will likely be completely hidden by the rub strip when it is re-installed.
Bad news,,, discovered that the bow light cleat assembly was also damaged. The lip that overhangs the rub rail was driven up about one quarter of an inch... deforming the base plate the bow light sits upon, disturbing the chrome plating... looks like it will need to be repaired or replaced.
