Hi,

I just purchased a Windline (one hoop two step) transom ladder for my 1989 Outrage 18'. What is the best way to install this? Through bolts with backing plate? Screws?

Here's a link to photos of the ladder on ebay:

Hi, mine is a three-step ladder with no hoop mounted on the port stern. All thats attatching mine is 4 ss screws into the transom and are about 1" long. Using 3m 4000 fast cure to seal the flanges and screws. Your hoop would benifit from a thru bolt and using a fender washer and a ny-lock nut to secure it. Alot of force will be placed on the hoop when trying to board the boat. Screws will be ok on the flanges for the steps as the only force on them will be in sheer, when boarding

Thanks Whalerman, but I'm a little confused. You mention first that I should use through bolts and then later that I should use screws. The whole thing only has four holes in it (see picture)....are you perhaps saying that I should use through bolts on the top two holes and screws on the bottom?

Just looked at it , couldn't for some reason before, and you'll be fine using ss screws and bed it in with 3m 4000 fast cure. It attatches like mine does. I have three steps on mine and love it, just remember to raise it when done before getting underway!! - water gets sprayed all over and a little embarrasing.
