This is a Whaler I have not seen in person yet. I might be purchasing it tomorrow. Not sure if it's a 13' or a 15', it's looking like a 13' to me.
I sent these pictures to Chuck Bennett at BW and he's stumped. The topskin is very odd. Does anyone have any ideas of what this may be? Hopefully thes pics will post - I'm a greenhorn here!

I take it you don't have a HIN number? What makes you thinks it's a Whaler?

I don't have a hull number yet. I'll be checking this out in person tomorrow, hopefully. I'm waiting to hear back from the current owner.
I don't know for sure if it's a whaler - it just has those unmistakeable hull lines. I know there has been a few knock offs over the years and who knows, it might be fake. Chuck at BW thinks its a whaler, he just doesn't know where the cap came from.
I am curious if there was ever BW specific aftermarket top skins available in the 60's.

There have been a of boats splashed from Whaler hulls over the years. I suspect that is what this is.
At best, it is an old Whaler hull that had a top skin made for it and then painted, but I suspect you will find it is not a Whaler at all.

Thanks Tom and Proteck for your replies. I'll take some pics when I go to check it out. I'm not really in the market for another Whaler, but curiosity has taken hold with this one. After 2 years, I'm finally about to get my '62 back in the water after a total restoration (new 40 Merc 4-stroke, new trailer, new woodwork, new paint) I want to enjoy boating for a while before taking on another project!
Thanks again - Mr UglyStick

Oh well. The owner won't return phone calls since I questioned if this boat was actually a whaler or a knock off. I guess his silence answered the question.

I was looking at the same boat (on Craigslist) and doubt seriously that it's a real Whaler. Haven't heard back from the owner.

Yeah, I guess that guy is in no hurry to sell. I was hoping to pick it up and put my old merc 40 on it so i could have a beater for salt water - keep my nice one on the lakes.
