Looking for trailer help. I have a 16' 7" (old style) whaler and am having trailer issues. My current trailer came with the boat and is wrong as it is a roller style, no bunks or keel support. More than that it was painted, not galvanized and has since rusted almost in half, no longer can I trailer on the road, only around the yard.
A decent looking galvanized bunk trailer has just popped up on craigslist for sale, decent price. It was originally used for a 16' Alum. spectrum boat. Having never purchased a trailer what should I be looking for assuming it is in good condition?
Are bunks ok, or do you also need keel rollers?
Will beam of boat fit between wheel wells?
Length of boat fit on trailer?
How do you actually tell if boat will fit ok without putting boat in trailer? Boat is in the water, trailer is not near boat.

Wow, nice trailer. Most folks will tell you that you'll need keel rollers for a Whaler trailer. The bunks are fine for stabilizing the boat and keeping it centered however the majority of the weight needs to be on the keel rollers.
