I have a 74 13 , with a full rail. Looking for a ladder for easier rentry for water skiing ect. The only good location for me would be , rear side approx. 3 ft forward of transom area. The gunnel area as we know is very "short" back there ,, any one using a ladder with success ? The max weight of the "kids" using the ladder would be approx 125 lbs.

Thanks

I use a small one step ladder that connects to the transom via the D-ring.

I'm unable to embed a picture of it in the reply however if you send me a PM with your email address in it, I will send you a picture of the ladder I'm using.

Here is the boarding ladder I built for my 13 footer.

http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c19...53/ladder/

The mahogany platform I made would have been a nice touch, but I decided not to use it, as it would have required more holes to be drilled in the transom, so I scrapped it, and bolted the ladder directly to the transom. As in most things the simple way is the best way. It stays in the upright position due to the tension of the bolts, and will easily support my 200lbs. I fugured if I fell overboard while fishing alone, I could easily get back aboard. I`m not as young as I used to be, when I could easily haul myself over the gunwale.

I used Turpin's as inspiration and built a three step out of PVC pipe. I think its 1.25" pipe with 1" pipe slid inside it.

Rather than the aluminum foot standoffs I just zip tied a skinny pool noodle to the back of the first step.
