Getting ready for boating season here in the NW and want to order a bimini for my 1989 Montauk. My question is about mounting the frame. I am interested in mounting it on the outside of the rails for better interior clearance. Planning on my bimini coming from iboat, the westland one. Anybody know if I need anything special or a different model year to do this? I already emailed their support but got no answer, so hopefully one of you can help me out. Thanks!

Tyler

It's been my experience that getting exactly what you want for canvas is best done by a pro. I've covered 3 sailboats and classic Montauk, and in the end, it's not that much more expensive. Again, it's not something kinda close, it's exactly what you want. See our Personal page for pics. Good Luck!

I have this exact Bimini and found it to be quite nice. As for mounting outside the rails, I used a slider track from West Marine which allows the Bimini to store forward of the bow rail, yet slide back far enough when raised to shade the console.
