HEY,

Am I the only one on the West Coast?
I feel like a Lone Ranger on the map folks. Where are all you West Coasters?

Don't let those people from Back East beat us out.... Grin

Sign up and let us know where you are located.

Tip: If you are going to add a photo and a comment, do it on the first try.
We didn't write the program so it is difficult to add your photos later that will show up along with your name.

I noticed that Halibut, and a great one.
I used to live is Seal Beach for the first 35 years of my life. Never caught a Halibut that big.
That's a huge Halibut for down there.

jeff,
at LaJolla, (just north of San Diego) we fish from 2-5 miles out. I was about 2.5 miles from the launch in about 110'of water. The beauty of Kayak fishing with the larger fish is that the kayak acts as a big drag and you get towed around for a while until the fish tires.

The dangerous part with a halibut is that after getting the Butt to the Yak, you must get a line thru the mouth and gills to secure the fish without it going ballistic, then using a fish billy ,, make sure its dead before bring it in with you. This one was 45" long, 18" wide. I had to sit her in my lap and then paddle back to shore, hoping for small waves to land safely.

Folks,

You need to click on the map link and ADD your location. Check the map out and "Add Yourself".

http://www.frappr.com/whalercentrallercentral

TIPS:
After clicking on "Add Yourself"
1. Put in a "Shoutout" Comment
2. Put in you Zip Code
3. Add a photo (optional)
4. Then click "Add Me"
You are now done and have been added to the Whaler Central Map.

You can do many things with this map. You can zoom in on other members location within a limit. For securtiy reasons, you cannot zoom into the exact location, only the city or surrounding area.

Check it out. It's FREE and you may discover a Boston Whaler friend living right in your home town. Add yourself today.

Joe,
My photo shows up, but the map doesn't load. It's not my machine, since I'm on a Mac! What am I doing wrong?

Andy,

I just saw your photo and the map. Both show up for me...
Strange...

I'm running OS X, 10.4.3 and using Safari... I also use FireFox when Safari doesn't work on some things.

Maybe Cookies? Cache?

Did you go back to the original link?

Hey Joe -

You now have someone representing the upper right coast (Maine) !

Sorry to be so scarce. Daddy daycare is keeping me from the computer.

The 17 Outrage is not yet winterized since I am still hoping to get one more day on the water before it snows or gets to dang cold (today is 37) Wink

When I have a chance I will be updating my profile and adding Outrage photos. In addition, will be posting my 1987 Montauk for sale.

Regards -

Phil

One more things to consider when you are adding your name to the map.
Please include your username on this site so we know who you are.
You can have both your real name and your username if you choose, you can even add multiple comments if desired.

The list is growing but we would like to see all of you there. Someone might be traveling across the country and want to stop by and say HOWDY... Smile

Try zooming in on the MAP and also the Satellite sections. For a look at the Highways, click on the HYBRID button. This map is pretty incredible. I can see some of my friends houses in the Satellite view... Amazing...
