I want to go back to the original mecahnical gas gauge with the see through deck plate in the floor as oppose to an electrical gas gauge on the console. I feell the mechaical works better. I had a new tank built by Florida Marine in October of 2006. The mechanical gauge got pitched with the old tank when the new tank was fabricated. I didn't care much at the time because I was going to install a new gauge on the console. What a mistake. It worked a couple , three times and then worked on and off for about two months until it doesn't work at all. Make sense? Key-z

From the symptoms you report (interminant) You could have a loose connection. Check the ground connection too.. If everything is okay on the sender, check the wires on the back of the gauge. Hope your suggestions resolves my issue with the gas gauge because I can't seem to find a mechanical gauge. I'll let you know the results just as soon as I test. Kind Regards, Key-z

I took it out this past weekend and it worked for a little while and then conked out. I'll check and tighten the wires one more time.If that doesn't fix the problem, then I'll be forced to purchase a mechanical gauge from e-components and a clear deck plate from twin cities marine. I'll also check the gauge West Marine carries. Thanks again, Key-z
