Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Small Cacks Oozing Tar Like Sticky Dark Stuff

Repainting 87 Model 18 Guardian After Sanding Sides Many hairline cracks seeping or oozing sticky tar like stuff. Many on the sides of hull. A shop suggested cutting open the areas and cutting out the foam, refoaming and refiberglassing, OOCH. Is there an easier cheaper alternative? Is this a dangerous situation as far as the boat coming apart?

The tar like stuff is most likely uncured resin.

Its a reaction between water and fiberglass resin. We called it coca cola
