I have an 1981 Newport. Can I run the bow light wire through the sides or should I go through the rub rail?

I would avoid duplex wire (2 wires in a sheath).

What gauge wire are planning on using?

Thanks for the help. I used 14 16 gauge wire. Running the wire wasnt the problem. I also put a new Rubrail on. 10 minutes into the project I seriously considered taking a home equity loan and just buying a brand new whaler. I used all the tricks I learned on this site, soaking it in the tub, soap, heat gun yada yada yada ! I ended up an hour into it having to self medicate myself with a few beverages and 6 hours later, WaLa , my rail was done. My hands feel like I went 8 rounds with Muhammid Ali and Im a rower. I do have to say it was a great sense of accomplishment though I will NEVER do that again.

Whenever doing a rubrail install, you must have a helper or it is a nasty frustrating battle.

Lesson learned on my brother's 13 ft'er.
