It appears that many members still don't know the name of model they own.

See the Nauset POLL on the left sidebar.

If you look in any of the Boston Whaler catalogs, the Nauset model was always called the Nauset 16
It was never called anything else.

Even though many models were 16 feet 7 inches in length, many earlier models were NOT called 17 models.

Bass Boat 16
Cohasset 16
Eastport 16
Katama 16
Menemsha 16
Minot 16
Nauset 16
Sakonnet 16
Tashmoo 16

There are a few variations for some later years but in general, the above models were all called 16 models.
Take a look in the Whaler Model Specifications section and see what your model was called.

Boston Whaler changed the name of the 16 models to 17 models later on even though the hull was still 16 feet 7 inches in length.
Montauk 17
Newport 17

I guess the last clue for other members that don't know the name of their model is to look on the side of the boat or on the console.
If you see a name like Dauntless 180, then that is what model you have, a Dauntless 180.
If it says, Dauntless 18', then you have a Dauntless 18', not a 180.
If the name says Montauk 17', then you don't have a Montauk 170.... etc....
The 3 digit naming system did not start until 2002. If you don't have a 2002 or newer model, then you don't have a 3 digit name.

I hope this helps some of you determine which model name Whaler you have.
Page 4 of the Whaler Model Specifications section shows the start of the New (3 digit) numbering system.

We hope to add more to this list when we can find some time.

We realize most of the 16 earlier models listed above do not have names on the sides.
That is another good indication that you have a 16 model.
These models were named by the different type of interior they had and the interior told us what model it was.
However, it was still a 16 model...

So, the answer to the POLL is Nauset 16
