Bill the long life of Whalers tends to lead to a lot of parts swapping. A lot of people put stuff in and a lot of people take stuff out to suit there personal taste or need. Your boat has a oem console in it but I think that console was not used until the early 80's. That could have been changed out just because someone thought they would update the look of the boat. So you have a late 70's that looks like a early 80's sounds like YOU Win.

Another thought would be that that console was being produced and was placed in some boats as they phased out the winged console.
