Walter: Thanks a real bunch!!! That worked. I had envisioned that there were screws into the metal rods that slid on to the blocks. It just never occurred to me the blocks slid over the rods.
I was banging away where you said figuring the block was going to split when the first side popped of a tube. Ohhh, that's how they're put together.
