I'm looking for someone who has the factory generator on their OMC outboard. I need the dimensions of the generator itself. I have the flywheel with the belt groove, now looking to install a charging system.

Thanks

Good news....I just purchased a restored 1962 Evinrude 40hp motor with charging system. I will send you pics and dimensions when the motor is delivered next week.

Hi, you've probbly done this but, look on e-bay under evinrude or johnson as there is the old 60's parts there. The bracket for the generator as well as the one for the starter. Also they used a voltage regulator in the system and in the early days they were mounted outside the engine in a metal box. Later on the regulator was put inside the engine cowl as the boxes would get flooded with water and the regulator would get toasted. We had a '66 40hp johnson and it had one on it. My dad had the front pan changed out and the regulator put inside after about 3 regulators later. As I recall the belt was more like a timeing belt with riges than a typical "v" belt. Oh yea the boat was a 13' sport '69
