Hi all, I just purchased an '83 Outrage with a Honda 135 4stroke this past August. I quickly noticed that the fuel gauge is stuck on full and confirmed this when it took 30 gal. of fuel. Is replacing the gauge the fix? Or is it something more involved. Thanks in advance.

Well, it might not be stuck.... It might just be dead....

Take a look around the site to find many things related to Boston Whalers.

I have a 1986 Outrage 18 that also had a dead fuel gauge. I opened mine by removing the 4 flange bolts around the gauge and found that my cork was saturated and sitting on the bottom of the tank. I a pinch, I used 2 wine corks to replace the old cork and it worked great. You can buy a replacement unit from Marine Max. It is an easy replacement.

I Confirm is very easy, even in Italy. ;-)

I ordered the parts from e-components and in a week arrived in Italy.
In a few minutes everything was working.

Did you have a Photo of your boat? The splashwell in particularly. I'm curious

Does the gauge fall back to empty when you turn the key off? If so it may be a wiring problem. I am in the process of fixing the same situation.

I have a brand new tank and gauge and when I turn the key on, the gauge shows full (even though I just finished a 120 mile trip).

the gauge stays on full all the time. I'm sure it's the gauge itself.. Quick winter project.
