Has anyone ever powered a 13' with a 9.9hp? I have a reservoir near me that will only allow a max hp of 9.9. It has some great fishing and I have a small 10' alum boat for that but it is very unstable. Was thinking about get rid of the 10' alum boat and get an 11' or 13', but can only use a 9.9 or smaller.

Put a 9.9 on your Outrage 18' like you had on your Montauk and leave the main motor in the titled up position.

Good idea Joe. Will that cut it with most HP restricted lakes?

CES,

You would have to check with the authorities of the lake but I have heard as long as the large engine is in the tilted up position you are not using it.

Thanks Joe, what you mentioned sounds like a great idea.

Well it would be cheaper to go that route. Kinda takes away from my plans of having a BW Navy. I'm sure the wife would agree with you Joe. By chance Joe, are you a marriage counselor?

Yes, I have. In NJ until a kid is 16, the boat must be over 12' with less than 10hp... I bought mine with a 40, replaced it with a 9.9, and now has a 25 on it. With the 9.9 it would plane with myslef (225) and my golden retriever, no problem... It lived without the drain plug too!
