Any 13' model can be powered with up to a 40hp motor. They haven been said to do great with as little as a 25hp.

Any 15' model can be powered with up to a 70hp motor. Many run 50 - 60 hp motors with success and the ones with 70hp really move.

The non smirked 16' as well as the smirked 17' Hulls can be powered up to 100hp. That said they do very well with motors that are less than that. I have a friend with a 16 Sakonnet and a 60 hp Johnson at does surprisingly well. Also, many have 70hp Yamaha's and OMC's as well as 75 hp Merc on the smirked 17 hulls and love the performance.

You have a lot of options.

BN Just for the reference I have a 1970 17' presmirked Eastport with a old 1975 Jhonson 70hp and It gets 31mph as per GPS at WOT with one person, I have had three people and fishing gear and did not notice much loss of power but was not able to run out to test because my passengers was my eldery parents and immedately requested I slow down when I tried to test. It has a stainless prop but I haven't found the pitch marks yet, but the hole shot is pretty quick. P.S. That is running on saltwater. I have noticed a loss of about 2 mph on fresh water compared to salt in my previous boat. Bob

The 16' 7" hull performs very well with a 70 hp on it as mentioned above.

I owned a 1978 Montauk for 15 years with a 1985 Evinrude 70 hp.
I water skied behind it and without any problems.
My boat also did 30, 31 mph with excellent fuel economy...
