I'm in need of advice again. Mounting a 150 yamaha four banger with 25" shaft on a 19, 1974 outrage.
I'm using a jack plate with 6" set back and 5" of up and down manual adjustment.
I hope this will work if installed correctly.
First things first, What kind of advice do you have for mounting this jack plate?
Thanks.

How about this. Mounting the jack plate flush with the top of the transom will not work because the lower two bolt holes will run too low and end up into the bait well.
I could use longer bolts but the wall in the bait well is not wood. It is foam.
I will have to raise that jack plate up higher but than the top bolts get close to the top of the transom. I will use the transom saver.
Is mounting this jack plate as easy as raising the plate up and finding the center of the transom?

Larry explained pretty well last month that the it is a tight fit to get the jack plate in the wood. I would say yes just move the jack plate up until you get into the wood. You may have to even drill new holes in the jack plate closer together.

On another note with the set back do you know how high to actually set the motor? I think I have seen that when a motor is setback it can be mounted higer on the transom.

the previous owner of my 74 outrage 19 bolted his to the wood as low as possible...worked fine for him/me.
