like all old whalers it's time to replace the fuel tank,, I need dimensions of the tank, or does anyone have any experience with a manufacturer of a poly tank that fits 1983 center counsel model

The OEM manufacturer is Florida Marine Tank. They still make aluminum tanks to fit your model. If you pull the inspection plate, you can see the label and model #. Dozens of members have replaced their tanks from FMT.
I have not heard of a manufacturer that makes custom sized poly tanks.
