Jerry, I'm not sure, but there might be a wire to install an electric gauge. If not you need a sender. There is a sender type that only requires a tube and is supposed to be very accurate. I don't know what's necessary to install. I have a new Teleflex Sahara gauge with a dessert tan face for sale $25 if you want.

Jerry,

I just pulled the fuel gauge out of a 1981 OUtrage 20 that was not working. Pretty simple to remove.
I found the cork float had become heavy over the 27 years of 2 stroke mix. Maybe sucked up a lot of oil. Anyway I drilled a couple small holes through the cork and soaked it in in simple green a few days and allowed to dry out and then repeated the process. After geting it dry I applied a thin coat of epoxy to seal and it is now working like a dream. I guess I could have just replaced the cork but I chose to keep the original.

I have the gauge out of my original 40 gal tank. The replacement tank came with an electric sender so I really don't have a use for my old one. The old gauge seems to be working well. If you are unable to get yours working, let me know and I will send you mine.
