my wooden supports broke under load of wet snow, what type of wood are they, I need replace them

any help would be greatly appreciated.....i am new to "threads & posts" so forgive me if i dont figure out how to repl thank you

I guess I should have read your title. I have no idea what mine are made of, they just look like any old thing in there? I would think you would want something that is at least weather resistant, Maybe plastic would be a good replacement, like heavy PVC or something.

I have made some out of schedule 40 PVC sprinkler pipe and tee fittings.
I would think Spruce wood might make a good choice if you want wood.

I also made some out of PVC and it worked great............just make sure you don't have any sharp corners that might rip the cover
