Since I’m restoring my 63' 13 foot sport, I have pretty much came well acquainted with every square inch. I have finally made it to the bow locker and while setting back contemplating my attack, I noticed that the center drain had what looked like a deep shadow of a hole in the drain instead of an appearance of a tube. I broke my handy probe (screwdriver) and started poking around and found that there was nothing in the drain other than smoothed out foam and with a light it appeared that it has always been this way. I checked the outer two drain and they were the same, no liner just foam glazed over with a very thin smear gel coat or something. Needless to say these drains were in no way water tight. I've seen many articles on drain tube replacement but is this common for the bow locker of the early 13 and 15 footers?
I have since made the repair and pictures should appear on my project page soon they are in the photobucket link for a detail of how I decided to tackle this problem.
Be sure to check yours, as I said I read the articles but never thought that I had anything to worry about until I actually looked.

Turpin , I think it is common for 13 and down. I went to look at an 11 and found the same thing. Just does not seem right . My 15 has a drain tube to the bottom of the boat. BG
