I just ordered a custom plexiglass wrap-around windshield for my super console, and was hoping for some advice on mounting hardware. I know typically simple rubber grommets are used, but was wondering if anyone has any specific suggestions or knows of a better moustrap. Thanks.

I think the grommets, also referred to as wellnuts work pretty well. Finding the right size can be a bit challenging but doable.
Is it coming pre-drilled?

I just bought some that are almost the exact replacement for the original from McMaster Carr. I will look up the part # and repost later today.

Well nuts, SS Screws and finish washers are all that you need.
If the windshield is not pre-drilled, invest in a drill bit designed for plexi and take it slow. I applied masking tape on both sides of the windshield and used a block of wood as backing.
If you have the original vinyl black stripe under your windshield, now is a good time to replace it.

No, it will not be pre-drilled. The maker did recomend the low-angle bits designed for plastic and to back it with a wood block as suggested.

McMaster Carr part #9305K27. Almost exact. We do a lot of replacement plexiglass and just drill with light pressure and medium speed. The key is light pressure you don't want the bit to bite or you will have a crack. Take your time and it will be a breeze.

I looked at the well nuts joe linked to and what I am referring to are bumpers that need to be throughbolted. Not well nuts that flare sorry. Mine had gone bad and I prefer to through blot. Good luck.

I think you would be safer in the long run by placing rubber spacer/washers between the plexiglass and the console at each screw location. Will definately cut down on the shock and vibration going to the plexiglass plus will lower the chance of cracking when you are tightening down the screws

I called Scott's on the well nuts, and he is currently out. Said the Whaler guys have bought him out and he's waiting on a new shipment.
But, for those interested, he said it was made by Auveco, and is part #16244. See www.auveco.com So if you have an Auveco distributor nearby, you might be able to pick some up.
